How do I import GL Accounts?

Instructions on how to use the Import templates in Occupier

What are GL Accounts?

GL accounts are a listing of all accounts used in the general ledger of an organization.  GL  accounts are used by the accounting software to aggregate information into an entity's financial statements.  Your organization will enter the company’s general ledger accounts and account descriptions into this section.

Instructions for importing GL Accounts

To find the import tool and select the right import template, refer to the document titled "How Do I Import Data into Accounting?"

This document will provide an overview of the import template guidelines for a successful import.

Using the import template, please populate the columns outlined below.

legal_entity_name - In this column, you will denote which legal entity this account belongs to. Please note that the spelling of this legal entity must match exactly with the spelling used to populate the data in Lease Administration. Also, this legal entity must be denoted as a "Reporting" entity versus an entity that "Consolidates with Parent." Note - if accounts are replicated across multiple legal entities, please add the account for each legal entity on its own row.

label - In this column, you will populate the account name/description that you wish to add.  An example would be ROU Asset.  This will be populated in the journal entries report so be sure it matches your ERP.   Note- each label must be unique within the same legal entity.

code - In this column, you will populate the account code correlated to the label you added above.  An example would be 1000.  This will be populated in the journal entries report so be sure it matches your ERP.  Note - each account code must be unique within the same legal entity.
