Configuring your accounts is a necessary step for all accounting leases prior to being a "Complete" lease. You will not be able to generate journal entries for a lease until the lease level "Accounts" are configured.
To configure the accounts, go to the lease and click on the Configure button located under the Accounts Tab.
During the initial setup, users have the option to choose set up the GL accounts manually or copy them from another lease. If you choose to "Copy From", you will be prompted to select from a list of leases that have the accounts already configured. Once in this screen simply select which lease you would like to copy from and then select "Submit."
By default, the "Start Period" of the GL account configuration defaults to the lease commencement or initial measurement period.
After completing the GL account setup, click on the "Submit" button. The system will automatically set the account configuration periods to align with the lease's beginning and end terms.
As a general rule of thumb, if a transaction type does not apply to your portfolio (ex: FX gain/loss) then it is recommended that you create a "Not Applicable" account in your Chart of Accounts and map this account to these transactions.
For additional guidance when in this screen please select the "Learn More" link. This will bring up a guide that outlines what each transaction type is and tips/tricks for success.
Once you have created your account configurations, you can then set up your Segment(s), if necessary. Account segments are treated as additional columns within the journal entry export.
To configure your Segment(s), click on "Configure" under "Segments":
To Setup your Segments, choose the segments you would like to apply to this lease. Similar to Accounts, the "Start Period" is the lease commencement date. However, this can be changed to fit your needs.
Once suitable, hit "Submit". https://help.occupier.com/knowledge/how-do-i-change-the-gl-accounts-configured-to-a-lease
