Why is my possession date and measurement date different?
The main reason for this difference is due to the adoption date for ASC 842 being after the possession date.
For example:
If your possession date is 7/20/18 but you are adopting ASC 842 on 1/1/22, the measurement date will be 1/1/22.
If your possession date is 7/20/22 but you adopted ASC 842 on 1/1/22, the measurement date will be 7/20/22.
