Importing Deal Custom Data

Occupier's import tool allows users to add or update custom field values on deals using a CSV import. Custom fields must be created in your account before they can be included in an import file.

Before You Start

Make sure each custom field you intend to import is already configured for deals. If a custom field does not exist yet, the import will not recognize the column.

Finding the Import Tool in the Settings

Click on the "settings" option located in the top right corner under the profile icon, then choose "Imports" from the settings menu.

Import Templates

From the Imports page, download the Deal Import template from the Data Templates window, or click the Import button and download the template from the Import window. Custom field columns are included in the template based on the custom fields configured in your account.

Select the import type

  1. Download the template and save your changes. Enter both standard and custom field values for each deal and save the file.
  2. Select your file to import, then "submit".

Adding Custom Data to Existing Deals

If you need to backfill custom field values on deals that already exist, use the Update Existing Deals import. The flow is the same as a new-deal import, with one difference: each row is matched to an existing deal by Deal ID or by an exact-match field you specify, and only the custom fields you map are updated. Cells left blank are skipped, not cleared.Deal ID is found in the URL.

Review Import Results

After the import process is finished, you will be able to examine the results in the import history table.

If there were any errors during the import, they will be indicated in the error column. To view more details about a specific import, click on the link in the Date of Import column.

The Import Details page will show you the import results, including any errors that occurred and the original import file. From here, you have the opportunity to review and correct any errors by downloading and importing an updated file with the necessary corrections. It's important to note that any records that have already been processed will not be overwritten.

A Few Notes on Custom Fields

Custom field columns are validated against their field type. Single-select and multi-select values must match an existing option on the field; new options are not auto-created from import data.
